My Work

A video of one of my students throwing for the very first time. This is what made me start my class. I saw that she had an obvious talent for it and I knew she deserved to show that talent off.

Sometimes I read to them and other times they read to me. We balance. (kindergarten classroom)

This is me with the students from the elementary life skills room.

I jumped a little out of my comfort zone and decided I wanted to know what it was like to be an elemantary art teacher. The answer is: CRAZY! You can't let messes bother you because you're not fooling anyone when you say that your room will stay organized for more than ten minutes. You're always moving and multitasking because you have at least ten kids in each class that are convivced that only YOU can draw exactly what they need so of course they chase you around until you have drawn it for them. But in all honesty: it's a fun job and your day flies by before you know it.

This is a spelling review board game that i put together. I thought to myself "no one truly likes to study... until it involves a fun game."

I like the concept of this activity, however, the main reason I find it important to share is because this was my first activity that I put together knowing I would have to present it.  I was nervous because I truly didn't have any idea what I was doing. This was before I learned what a lesson plan was and how to make one. I like that it shows how far I have come and how much I have grown and improved on my teaching skills.

Seeing the kids grow and improve is a great feeling but my absolute favorite part of teaching is all of the pictures and cards that they make for me. To them it doesn't mean much but I adore every note/picture/card I get from them because they are special to me. These are only a few that I have saved.

These are pictures of they class that I teach. I take high school life skills students and teach them how to throw on the wheel  for my individual investigation. Each piece in this gallery is a piece that one of my "students" have made. This class is insanely important to me because I am the reason that they get to participate in art everyday like they had been wanting to and that makes me happy. I get so sick of hearing people degrade underestimate those who have a disability (big or small.) I hear my peers putting down our classmates. They think that they can't do anything because maybe they don't look, sound, or act the same but that's ok, because I know what they are capable of and these pictures don't do them justice.

This is a copy of a lesson plan that I put together about jellyfish that combines science and art into one. (Click on the picture to enlarge.)

I have been going out and gaining feild from various classes for two years now.
